Monet’s garden at Giverny was our plan today. It is relatively easy to get to, a short train ride from Gare Saint-Lazare to Vernon then a 10 minute bus ride. Having tickets allowed us to enter quickly and view the famous lily pond and bridge with only with a few others.
The lily pond is a very magical place especially when the entire area was covered in light fog.
Of course visitors congregate on the bridge to take selfies, it is very hard to get shot without it full of other visitors.
A few days later we headed out to Chatou. Along this part of the Seine is were the Impressionist, Renoir painted and ate at the Restaurant de la Maison Fournaise, often Renoir left a painting to pay for his meals as he said they were not worth anything. We walked along the Seine where they painted, went boating and cavorted.
Restaurant de la Maison Fournaise where we ate is the balcony that Renoir painted his famous painting - Le Déjeuner des canotiers - The Luncheon of the Boating Party.
